In recent times there has been an emerging trend of parents bringing in birthday cakes and other party treats for their child’s class on the occasion of their child’s birthday.
While this is a very nice and a very generous thing to do, our school has a number of concerns. These are centred on the following areas;
- Health and Safety ….Food allergies. Who monitors ingredients? Who has responsibility?
- Pressure to keep up with a certain standard being brought to bear on all parents.
- Disruption to class on an increasingly frequent basis.
- Our healthy eating policy and the general health of our pupils. Again, the frequency of such events is key.
In light of the above, parents are asked not to send in cakes, buns etc to their child’s class on the occasion of their son/daughter’s birthday.
Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
