Parents Association Social Media Policy

Realt Na Mara Parents Association Social Media Policy

These are the official guidelines for social media use on behalf of Realt Na Mara Parents Association.

We expect any nominated committee members who participate in social media on behalf of Realt Na Mara Parents Association to understand and follow these guidelines, and to be aware that they will continually evolve as social media and school requirements evolve.

Check back periodically to make sure you're up to date.

Objectives:

  • The Parent’s Association social media forum is to communicate and share information regarding school events and activities of the Parent’s Association.

  • Only parents of current students and current full time staff of Realt Na Mara School are permitted to be members of the forum.
  • New parents must be vetted by providing information on who their child is and which class they are in to the PA nominated members. This will then be verified with the class list provided by the school.
  • The nominated members will undertake to manage the Parent’s Association Social Media content.  At all times maintain people’s privacy regarding event photos – not everyone wants their picture on social media!
  • The school website is the official platform for reproducing photographs of the children. Prior authorisation must be required from the school’s Principal if any reproduced student photos are to be used on PA social media.
  • The Parent’s Association is in no way involved in the running or management of the school. Any information regarding school events must be authorised by the school’s Principal or in their absence the Vice Principal.
  • The PA social media outlet is a representation of Realt Na Mara School, where possible all notification for school events must be in text or type to maintain a professional appearance.
  • Any external posts, tweets etc. must be approved by the PA nominated members.
  • No business or service advertising, or touting to be permitted.
  • Any derogatory or negative comments or content toward the school, its staff and parents/guardians will be removed immediately. The PA reserves the right to remove any members.

Should any specific queries regarding the schools policies and procedures arise we should encourage parents to liaise directly with the school’s Principal and or staff to work together for the best possible education for our children.

Social media is a great opportunity for communication and sharing and adds value to the school community if used in a positive way.
